Perforation Repair
Core Term Definition
Manual patching of torn or chipped sprocket holes along the edges of a physical film strip.
Technical Analysis & Context
Sprocket holes are subjected to heavy mechanical stress during projection. If a sprocket hole is torn, it can snag and shred the film in a scanner. Technicians use specialized archival polyester tape and precision jigs to rebuild or reinforce individual sprocket perforations.
